Has Qur'an been...

This article covers the Muslims response and refutation to some of the common false allegations against the preservation of the Qur'an. These are my notes from a debate that I had with an atheist on the topic of preservation of the Qur'an. He mainly argued that Qur'an was not complete during the life of the Messenger of Allah (sal-allahu 'alayhi wa salam - peace and blessings be upon him), neither it was completely written down or memorized. He also argued that the Qur'an we've today is missing

First Pillar of Islam:...

The belief of a Muslim is summarised in the declaration of faith known as the kalimah (meaning: a word) and this is: "Laa ilaaha illAllaha Muhammadur-Rasoolullaah" (There is nothing which has the right to be worshipped except Allah (SWT) (God) (1) (alone) and Muhammad is His Messenger.

Worshiping Allah (SWT) alone

Muslims believe that this Universe, by necessity, has a Creator. It is hard for a person's common sense to encompass that the Universe with all its order and re

Meaning of Tawheed

What exactly is this tawheed that is so important, that which holds such a high position?

Linguistically, the word tawheed comes from the word wah-hada, which means to make something waahid (singular). Waahid is the opposite of two, three, etc., the opposite of plurality. So waahid is something that will continue to be singular and never become a partner of something else. As for the sharee'ah (shari'ah)'s definition, the tawheed means to single out Allah with all forms of worship, so that yo

The Reason why Fasting...

Firstly we must note that one of the names of Allah is al-Hakeem (the Most Wise). The word Hakeem is derived from the same root as hukm (ruling) and hikmah (wisdom). Allah alone is the One Who issues rulings, and His rulings are the most wise and perfect.

Secondly: Allah does not prescribe any ruling but there is great wisdom behind it, which we may understand, or our minds may not be guided to understand it. We may know some of it but a great deal is hidden from us.

Importance of Scholarly...

Praise to be Allah (God) the Lord of the worlds, Who rose above the heavens in a manner that suits His Majesty. After observing many conversations on Islamic forums and reading fair amount of anti Islamic articles, I noticed that many people are confused about the importance of scholarly opinions in Islam. For example the question: when do Muslims accept the opinions of our scholars? In this article, by the will of Allah (SWT), I'll try my best to clear up most of the confusions with the little

10 Ways Of Protection...

Summarized from Bida’i` al-Fawa’id (304-30) :

1. Seeking refuge with Allah from Shaytan. Allah the Most High said, “And if there comes to you from Satan an evil suggestion, then seek refuge in Allah. Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Knowing.” [41:36]

2. Recitation of the two soorahs al-Falaq and an-Nas, as they have wondrous effect in seeking refuge with Allah from his evil, weakening Shaytan and protection from him.

Why Good Manners Are...

First let's see what did the Quran and the Prophet say about Akhlaaq (manners):

The Prophet Mohammad (peace be upon him), in Muwatta Imam Malik said: "Verily, I was sent for no other reason, except to perfect the noble traits of character'' - in other words; one of the Prophet's goals, in fact, the primary mission was the perfection of how people behave - their manners.

A Muslim can't be a true Muslim if he does his Ibadaat (worshiping, i.e prayers, fasts, zakat..etc)very

The Three Questions In...

If the son of Adam died, his soul departs his body and he placed in his grave. Then two angels (Munkar & Nakir) came to him and ask him what he used to believe in when he was alive in this world (dunya). They ask him: 1) who was his Lord, 2) what was his religion, 3) who was his Prophet. If he gives a good answer, that is good, but if he does not answer them they inflict a severe and painful beating on him.

It was narrated that al-Bara’ (may Allaah be pleased with

What Is The Barzakh

What is meant by al-barzakh is the period between a person's death and his resurrection on the Day of Resurrection. Its the separator stage between two other stages (the life and the resurrection day).

Whoever dies as a Muslim, obeying Allaah, will be in a blessed state, and whoever dies as a kaafir, disobeying Allaah, will be punished. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning); “The Fire, they are exposed to i

How Do Muslims View...

Muslims believe that the present life is a trial in preparation for the next realm of existence. When a Muslim dies, he or she is washed and wrapped in a clean, white cloth (usually by a family member) and buried after a special prayer, preferably the same day. Muslims consider this a final service that they can do for their relatives and an opportunity to remember that their own existence here on earth is brief.

The question of whether there is life after death does not fall under the
