بِسْمِ اللّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ

English Dr. Mohsin Khan: With the Name Of Allah (God), the Bestower Of Mercy, the Most Merciful.

يس

English Dr. Mohsin Khan: Yâ-Sîn. [These letters are one of the miracles of the Qur'ân, and none but Allâh (Alone) knows their meanings.]

[ 36:2 ]

وَالْقُرْآنِ الْحَكِيمِ

English Dr. Mohsin Khan: By the Qur'ân, full of wisdom (i.e. full of laws, evidences, and proofs),

[ 36:3 ]

إِنَّكَ لَمِنَ الْمُرْسَلِينَ

English Dr. Mohsin Khan: Truly, you (O Muhammad SAW) are one of the Messengers,

[ 36:4 ]

عَلَى صِرَاطٍ مُّسْتَقِيمٍ

English Dr. Mohsin Khan: On the Straight Path (i.e. on Allâh's religion of Islâmic Monotheism).

[ 36:5 ]

تَنزِيلَ الْعَزِيزِ الرَّحِيمِ

English Dr. Mohsin Khan: (This is a Revelation) sent down by the All¬Mighty, the Most Merciful,

[ 36:6 ]

لِتُنذِرَ قَوْمًا مَّا أُنذِرَ آبَاؤُهُمْ فَهُمْ غَافِلُونَ

English Dr. Mohsin Khan: In order that you may warn a people whose forefathers were not warned, so they are heedless.

[ 36:7 ]

لَقَدْ حَقَّ الْقَوْلُ عَلَى أَكْثَرِهِمْ فَهُمْ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ

English Dr. Mohsin Khan: Indeed the Word (of punishment) has proved true against most of them, so they will not believe.

[ 36:8 ]

إِنَّا جَعَلْنَا فِي أَعْنَاقِهِمْ أَغْلاَلاً فَهِيَ إِلَى الأَذْقَانِ فَهُم مُّقْمَحُونَ

English Dr. Mohsin Khan: Verily! We have put on their necks iron collars reaching to the chins, so that their heads are raised up.

[ 36:9 ]

وَجَعَلْنَا مِن بَيْنِ أَيْدِيهِمْ سَدًّا وَمِنْ خَلْفِهِمْ سَدًّا فَأَغْشَيْنَاهُمْ فَهُمْ لاَ يُبْصِرُونَ

English Dr. Mohsin Khan: And We have put a barrier before them, and a barrier behind them, and We have covered them up, so that they cannot see.

[ 36:10 ]

وَسَوَاء عَلَيْهِمْ أَأَنذَرْتَهُمْ أَمْ لَمْ تُنذِرْهُمْ لاَ يُؤْمِنُونَ

English Dr. Mohsin Khan: It is the same to them whether you warn them or you warn them not, they will not believe.

[ 36:11 ]

إِنَّمَا تُنذِرُ مَنِ اتَّبَعَ الذِّكْرَ وَخَشِيَ الرَّحْمَن بِالْغَيْبِ فَبَشِّرْهُ بِمَغْفِرَةٍ وَأَجْرٍ كَرِيمٍ

English Dr. Mohsin Khan: You can only warn him who follows the Reminder (the Qur'ân), and fears the Most Gracious (Allâh) unseen. Bear you to such one the glad tidings of forgiveness, and a generous reward (i.e. Paradise).

إِنَّا نَحْنُ نُحْيِي الْمَوْتَى وَنَكْتُبُ مَا قَدَّمُوا وَآثَارَهُمْ وَكُلَّ شَيْءٍ أحْصَيْنَاهُ فِي إِمَامٍ مُبِينٍ

English Dr. Mohsin Khan: Verily, We give life to the dead, and We record that which they send before (them), and their traces[1] and all things We have recorded with numbers (as a record) in a Clear Book.

وَاضْرِبْ لَهُم مَّثَلاً أَصْحَابَ الْقَرْيَةِ إِذْ جَاءهَا الْمُرْسَلُونَ

English Dr. Mohsin Khan: And put forward to them a similitude; the (story of the) dwellers of the town, [It is said that the town was Antioch (Antakiya)], when there came Messengers to them.

إِذْ أَرْسَلْنَا إِلَيْهِمُ اثْنَيْنِ فَكَذَّبُوهُمَا فَعَزَّزْنَا بِثَالِثٍ فَقَالُوا إِنَّا إِلَيْكُم مُّرْسَلُونَ

English Dr. Mohsin Khan: When We sent to them two Messengers, they belied them both, so We reinforced them with a third, and they said: "Verily! We have been sent to you as Messengers."

قَالُوا مَا أَنتُمْ إِلاَّ بَشَرٌ مِّثْلُنَا وَمَا أَنزَلَ الرَّحْمن مِن شَيْءٍ إِنْ أَنتُمْ إِلاَّ تَكْذِبُونَ

English Dr. Mohsin Khan: They (people of the town) said: "You are only human beings like ourselves, and the Most Gracious (Allâh) has revealed nothing, you are only telling lies."
