بِسْمِ اللّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ
English Dr. Mohsin Khan: With the Name Of Allah (God), the Bestower Of Mercy, the Most Merciful.
[ 71:1 ]
إِنَّا أَرْسَلْنَا نُوحًا إِلَى قَوْمِهِ أَنْ أَنذِرْ قَوْمَكَ مِن قَبْلِ أَن يَأْتِيَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ
English Dr. Mohsin Khan: Verily, We sent Nûh (Noah) to his people (Saying): "Warn your people before there comes to them a painful torment."
[ 71:2 ]
قَالَ يَا قَوْمِ إِنِّي لَكُمْ نَذِيرٌ مُّبِينٌ
English Dr. Mohsin Khan: He said: "O my people! Verily, I am a plain warner to you,
[ 71:3 ]
أَنِ اعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ وَاتَّقُوهُ وَأَطِيعُونِ
English Dr. Mohsin Khan: "That you should worship Allâh (Alone), be dutiful to Him, and obey me,
[ 71:4 ]
يَغْفِرْ لَكُم مِّن ذُنُوبِكُمْ وَيُؤَخِّرْكُمْ إِلَى أَجَلٍ مُّسَمًّى إِنَّ أَجَلَ اللَّهِ إِذَا جَاء لَا يُؤَخَّرُ لَوْ كُنتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ
English Dr. Mohsin Khan: "He (Allâh) will forgive you of your sins and respite you to an appointed term. Verily, the term of Allâh when it comes, cannot be delayed, if you but knew."
[ 71:5 ]
قَالَ رَبِّ إِنِّي دَعَوْتُ قَوْمِي لَيْلًا وَنَهَارًا
English Dr. Mohsin Khan: He said: "O my Lord! Verily, I have called my people night and day (i.e. secretly and openly to accept the doctrine of Islâmic Monotheism) ,
[ 71:6 ]
فَلَمْ يَزِدْهُمْ دُعَائِي إِلَّا فِرَارًا
English Dr. Mohsin Khan: "But all my calling added nothing but to (their) flight (from the truth)
[ 71:7 ]
وَإِنِّي كُلَّمَا دَعَوْتُهُمْ لِتَغْفِرَ لَهُمْ جَعَلُوا أَصَابِعَهُمْ فِي آذَانِهِمْ وَاسْتَغْشَوْا ثِيَابَهُمْ وَأَصَرُّوا وَاسْتَكْبَرُوا اسْتِكْبَارًا
English Dr. Mohsin Khan: "And verily, every time I called unto them that You might forgive them, they thrust their fingers into their ears, covered themselves up with their garments, and persisted (in their refusal), and magnified themselves in pride.
[ 71:8 ]
ثُمَّ إِنِّي دَعَوْتُهُمْ جِهَارًا
English Dr. Mohsin Khan: "Then verily, I called to them openly (aloud);
[ 71:9 ]
ثُمَّ إِنِّي أَعْلَنتُ لَهُمْ وَأَسْرَرْتُ لَهُمْ إِسْرَارًا
English Dr. Mohsin Khan: "Then verily, I proclaimed to them in public, and I have appealed to them in private,
[ 71:10 ]
فَقُلْتُ اسْتَغْفِرُوا رَبَّكُمْ إِنَّهُ كَانَ غَفَّارًا
English Dr. Mohsin Khan: "I said (to them): 'Ask forgiveness from your Lord; Verily, He is Oft-Forgiving;
[ 71:11 ]
يُرْسِلِ السَّمَاء عَلَيْكُم مِّدْرَارًا
English Dr. Mohsin Khan: He will send rain to you in abundance;
[ 71:12 ]
وَيُمْدِدْكُمْ بِأَمْوَالٍ وَبَنِينَ وَيَجْعَل لَّكُمْ جَنَّاتٍ وَيَجْعَل لَّكُمْ أَنْهَارًا
English Dr. Mohsin Khan: And give you increase in wealth and children, and bestow on you gardens and bestow on you rivers.' "
[ 71:13 ]
مَّا لَكُمْ لَا تَرْجُونَ لِلَّهِ وَقَارًا
English Dr. Mohsin Khan: What is the matter with you, that [you fear not Allâh (His punishment), and] you hope not for reward (from Allâh or you believe not in His Oneness).
[ 71:14 ]
وَقَدْ خَلَقَكُمْ أَطْوَارًا
English Dr. Mohsin Khan: While He has created you in (different) stages [i.e. first Nutfah, then 'Alaqah and then Mudghah, see (VV.23:13,14)].
[ 71:15 ]
أَلَمْ تَرَوْا كَيْفَ خَلَقَ اللَّهُ سَبْعَ سَمَاوَاتٍ طِبَاقًا
English Dr. Mohsin Khan: See you not how Allâh has created the seven heavens one above another,
