بِسْمِ اللّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ
English Dr. Mohsin Khan: With the Name Of Allah (God), the Bestower Of Mercy, the Most Merciful.
[ 70:1 ]
سَأَلَ سَائِلٌ بِعَذَابٍ وَاقِعٍ
English Dr. Mohsin Khan: A questioner asked concerning a torment about to befall
[ 70:2 ]
لِّلْكَافِرينَ لَيْسَ لَهُ دَافِعٌ
English Dr. Mohsin Khan: Upon the disbelievers, which none can avert,
[ 70:3 ]
مِّنَ اللَّهِ ذِي الْمَعَارِجِ
English Dr. Mohsin Khan: From Allâh, the Lord of the ways of ascent.
[ 70:4 ]
تَعْرُجُ الْمَلَائِكَةُ وَالرُّوحُ إِلَيْهِ فِي يَوْمٍ كَانَ مِقْدَارُهُ خَمْسِينَ أَلْفَ سَنَةٍ
English Dr. Mohsin Khan: The angels and the Rûh [Jibril (Gabriel)] ascend to Him in a Day the measure whereof is fifty thousand years.
[ 70:5 ]
فَاصْبِرْ صَبْرًا جَمِيلًا
English Dr. Mohsin Khan: So be patient (O Muhammad SAW ), with a good patience.
[ 70:6 ]
إِنَّهُمْ يَرَوْنَهُ بَعِيدًا
English Dr. Mohsin Khan: Verily! they see it (the torment) afar off.
[ 70:7 ]
وَنَرَاهُ قَرِيبًا
English Dr. Mohsin Khan: But We see it (quite) near.
[ 70:8 ]
يَوْمَ تَكُونُ السَّمَاء كَالْمُهْلِ
English Dr. Mohsin Khan: The Day that the sky will be like the boiling filth of oil, (or molten copper or silver or lead).
[ 70:9 ]
وَتَكُونُ الْجِبَالُ كَالْعِهْنِ
English Dr. Mohsin Khan: And the mountains will be like flakes of wool.
[ 70:10 ]
وَلَا يَسْأَلُ حَمِيمٌ حَمِيمًا
English Dr. Mohsin Khan: And no friend will ask a friend (about his condition),
[ 70:11 ]
يُبَصَّرُونَهُمْ يَوَدُّ الْمُجْرِمُ لَوْ يَفْتَدِي مِنْ عَذَابِ يَوْمِئِذٍ بِبَنِيهِ
English Dr. Mohsin Khan: Though they shall be made to see one another [(i.e. on the Day of Resurrection), there will be none but see his father, children and relatives, but he will neither speak to them nor will ask them for any help]. The Mujrim, (criminal, sinner, disbeliever) would desire to ransom himself from the punishment of that Day by his children.
[ 70:12 ]
وَصَاحِبَتِهِ وَأَخِيهِ
English Dr. Mohsin Khan: And his wife and his brother,
[ 70:13 ]
وَفَصِيلَتِهِ الَّتِي تُؤْويهِ
English Dr. Mohsin Khan: And his kindred who sheltered him,
[ 70:14 ]
وَمَن فِي الْأَرْضِ جَمِيعًا ثُمَّ يُنجِيهِ
English Dr. Mohsin Khan: And all that are in the earth, so that it might save him.
[ 70:15 ]
كَلَّا إِنَّهَا لَظَى
English Dr. Mohsin Khan: By no means! Verily, it will be the Fire of Hell!
