بِسْمِ اللّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ
English Dr. Mohsin Khan: With the Name Of Allah (God), the Bestower Of Mercy, the Most Merciful.
[ 76:1 ]
هَلْ أَتَى عَلَى الْإِنسَانِ حِينٌ مِّنَ الدَّهْرِ لَمْ يَكُن شَيْئًا مَّذْكُورًا
English Dr. Mohsin Khan: Has there not been over man a period of time, when he was not a thing worth mentioning?
[ 76:2 ]
إِنَّا خَلَقْنَا الْإِنسَانَ مِن نُّطْفَةٍ أَمْشَاجٍ نَّبْتَلِيهِ فَجَعَلْنَاهُ سَمِيعًا بَصِيرًا
English Dr. Mohsin Khan: Verily, We have created man from Nutfah (drops) of mixed semen (sexual discharge of man and woman), in order to try him, so We made him hearer and seer.
[ 76:3 ]
إِنَّا هَدَيْنَاهُ السَّبِيلَ إِمَّا شَاكِرًا وَإِمَّا كَفُورًا
English Dr. Mohsin Khan: Verily, We showed him the way, whether he be grateful or ungrateful.
[ 76:4 ]
إِنَّا أَعْتَدْنَا لِلْكَافِرِينَ سَلَاسِلَا وَأَغْلَالًا وَسَعِيرًا
English Dr. Mohsin Khan: Verily, We have prepared for the disbelievers iron chains, iron collars, and a blazing Fire.
[ 76:5 ]
إِنَّ الْأَبْرَارَ يَشْرَبُونَ مِن كَأْسٍ كَانَ مِزَاجُهَا كَافُورًا
English Dr. Mohsin Khan: Verily, the Abrâr (the pious and righteous) shall drink of a cup (of wine) mixed with (water from a spring in Paradise called) Kâfûr.
[ 76:6 ]
عَيْنًا يَشْرَبُ بِهَا عِبَادُ اللَّهِ يُفَجِّرُونَهَا تَفْجِيرًا
English Dr. Mohsin Khan: A spring wherefrom the slaves of Allâh will drink, causing it to gush forth abundantly.
[ 76:7 ]
يُوفُونَ بِالنَّذْرِ وَيَخَافُونَ يَوْمًا كَانَ شَرُّهُ مُسْتَطِيرًا
English Dr. Mohsin Khan: They (are those who) fulfill (their) vows, and they fear a Day whose evil will be wide-spreading.
[ 76:8 ]
وَيُطْعِمُونَ الطَّعَامَ عَلَى حُبِّهِ مِسْكِينًا وَيَتِيمًا وَأَسِيرًا
English Dr. Mohsin Khan: And they give food, inspite of their love for it (or for the love of Him), to Miskin (the poor), the orphan, and the captive,
[ 76:9 ]
إِنَّمَا نُطْعِمُكُمْ لِوَجْهِ اللَّهِ لَا نُرِيدُ مِنكُمْ جَزَاء وَلَا شُكُورًا
English Dr. Mohsin Khan: (Saying): "We feed you seeking Allâh's Countenance only. We wish for no reward, nor thanks from you.
[ 76:10 ]
إِنَّا نَخَافُ مِن رَّبِّنَا يَوْمًا عَبُوسًا قَمْطَرِيرًا
English Dr. Mohsin Khan: "Verily, We fear from our Lord a Day, hard and distressful, that will make the faces look horrible (from extreme dislike to it)."
[ 76:11 ]
فَوَقَاهُمُ اللَّهُ شَرَّ ذَلِكَ الْيَوْمِ وَلَقَّاهُمْ نَضْرَةً وَسُرُورًا
English Dr. Mohsin Khan: So Allâh saved them from the evil of that Day, and gave them Nadhrah (a light of beauty) and joy.
[ 76:12 ]
وَجَزَاهُم بِمَا صَبَرُوا جَنَّةً وَحَرِيرًا
English Dr. Mohsin Khan: And their recompense shall be Paradise, and silken garments, because they were patient.
[ 76:13 ]
مُتَّكِئِينَ فِيهَا عَلَى الْأَرَائِكِ لَا يَرَوْنَ فِيهَا شَمْسًا وَلَا زَمْهَرِيرًا
English Dr. Mohsin Khan: Reclining therein on raised thrones, they will see there neither the excessive heat of the sun, nor the excessive bitter cold, (as in Paradise there is no sun and no moon).
[ 76:14 ]
وَدَانِيَةً عَلَيْهِمْ ظِلَالُهَا وَذُلِّلَتْ قُطُوفُهَا تَذْلِيلًا
English Dr. Mohsin Khan: And the shade thereof is close upon them, and the bunches of fruit thereof will hang low within their reach.
[ 76:15 ]
وَيُطَافُ عَلَيْهِم بِآنِيَةٍ مِّن فِضَّةٍ وَأَكْوَابٍ كَانَتْ قَوَارِيرَا
English Dr. Mohsin Khan: And amongst them will be passed round vessels of silver and cups of crystal —
