She [Saudah] was very fearful of the Dajjal [anti-christ]. Once she was coming to Sayyidah Aisha and Sayyidah Hafsah, both of them knew her weakness and said to her in a jovial mood, "Have you heard that the Dajjal has made his appearance!?" She was alarmed and she readily entered a tent where certain people were busy kindling fire. Both the ladies, Aisha and Hafsah came running to the Holy Prophet (sal Allah alaihi wasalam) and informed him of the joke they had with Sayyidah Saudah. The Holy Prophet quietly came to the entrance of the tent and said, "The Dajjal has not yet made his appearance." On hearing this, Saudah came out of the tent and cleared her garments of the cobweb which had clung to her dress in the tent.

Saudah had a good sense of humour. At times she walked in such a way that the Holy Prophet was amused. Once she said to the Prophet (sal Allah alaihi wasalam), "Last night I prayed in your company but your bowing became so prolonged that I feared my nose had started bleeding and I caught hold of my nose for a pretty long time. This amused the Prophet and he smiled.

we could refute that by saying that they joked, and then conveyed the joke to Allah's Messenger who then told Saudah that it wasn't true. It may be that they told Allah's Messenger to make him laugh, and also as a side of approval from him, however he told that the statement was only a joke.

Obviously after this they wouldn't joke about such things especially when teaching it to others, since they knew they were examples for the people. But before this they had the Messenger of Allah to confirm or reject such issues for them because of revelation.
