^I dont want to delete it, without the thread starter knowing...

A cut and paste from the link you gave... (JazakAllah)

A person must cut his/her nails regularly (Sahih Muslim)
One should start cutting nails from the right side (Sahih Bukhari & Muslim)
One must cut one?s nails within every forty days (Sahih Muslim)

According to Matn al-Iqna (name of a book) of Hanbali school, it is desirable for a person who clips his/her nails to do that in the following order:

The little finger of the right hand, the middle finger, thumb, ring finger and finally the index finger. Then, one clips nails of one's left as follows: The thumb of the left hand, it middle finger, the little finger, the index finger and finally the ring finger.

According to al-Shafi'e school, clipping one's nails has to be started with one's index finger of the right hind, since it is more honorable due to being used to attest Shahadah of Tawhid, then the middle finger, the little finger, the ring finger and finally the thumb. Then, the little finger of left hind, the ring finger, the middle finger, the index finger and finally the thumb. After that, one is advised to clip one's little toe of his/her right foot, and then, in turn one by one to be ended with the little toe of the left foot (Quoted from Mughni al-Muhtaj).

However, we believe that the above-mentioned narration concerning the order of clipping one's nails has no foundation Ibn Daqiq al-'Id, a well known a verifier and Muslim scholar, said: 'Clipping nails in accordance with a fixed order has no foundation in Sharia'. He added: 'It is not allowed to believe in the approbation of clipping nails according to the above-mentioned order, since such a desirability has no evidence in Sharia. So, it is wrong to believe this easily'.

Ibn Daqiq al-'Id does not negate to start with the right hand, in general, but he negates the order among fingers (hand or leg), since the Prophetic Hadith states: "The Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) likes and prefers starting from right (hand/leg) side while wearing his shoes, combines, bathing, making Wudu and even in all his matters". [Reported by Imams Bukhari and Muslim]

A reputable Muhaddith, Allamah Nawawi (R.A) who is also the commentator of Sahihul Muslim, has regarded the clipping of nails in sequence as Mustahab.

On the other hand majority of the Ulama and Fuqaha (Jurists) are of the view that it is not Mustahab to observe any particular sequence in clipping ones nails and whomsoever claims otherwise should present sufficient and authentic substantiation.

However, Allamah Ibne Hajar ?Asqalani (R.A.A.), an illustrious and reputable scholar of Hadith and also the author of Fathul Bari, the commentary of the most authentic book of Hadith; Sahihul Bukhari, presents another interpretation in the light of Hadith to prove that cutting ones nails in sequence is at least recommended, if not Mustahab. He mentions the Hadith of Aisha (R.A.) in which she says that: ?Nabi (S.A.W.) liked to choose the right in his issues of Taharat (purity and cleanliness) and Tarajjul (combing his hair) and likewise in all his affairs.? From this Hadith we conclude that it is recommended (not Mustahab) to observe the sequence in clipping the nails and start from the right hand. Allamah Ibne Hajar (R.A.) also explains that to start clipping from the Musabbihah (better known as the Tashahhud finger (index finger) of the right hand is because of its virtue over the other fingers. As far as observing the sequence of the remaining fingers is concerned it is because they start from the right of the index finger and as mentioned by Aisha (R.A.), Nabi (S.A.W.) always preferred the right side. (Bukhari,Vol.2,Page.875, Fathul Bari,Vol.10,Page.345, Muslim,Vol.2,Page129, Raddul Muhtar,Vol.5,Page.288, Al-Mughni Li Ibni Qudamah,Vol.1,Page.118-119)
