In Christianity, "sect" is usually a pejorative term used for groups who don't entirely adhere to Orthodox faith (often synonymous with "cult"). Orthodox groups with slightly differing beliefs to one another are called "denominations". I'm non-denominational (which means that I don't identify with any particular denomination, not that I am against the existence of different denominations), but throughout my life I've gone to Anglican churches (specifically Church of England).
