Default "That is why they speak"

Assalamu Alaykum

Reflect upon the words of al-Hasan al-Basri: "These people have become bored with worship, and speech has become light upon their tongues, and their piety has decreased, and that is why they speak."

Narrated by Ahmad in az-Zuhd and Aboo Nu'aym in al-Hilyah.

Wa'alaykum salam

Wow SubhanAllah! JazakAllah khayr for sharing that bro!

I heard a saying once, not sure who said it >>
If speech is from silver then silence is golden....

WassalamuAlaykum

Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullah

reminds me of the hadith in which rasoolullah sallallahi alaihi wasallam held his tongue telling us to guard it in fear of the fire....

Commentary: The opinion of the Companions of the Prophet (PBUH) was based on the information contained in the Ahadith which have been mentioned above. They did not take the Ahadith which interpreted the leaving of Salat as Kufr mere scolding or reproof. They considered slackness and negligence in Salat as Kufr and apostasy and regarded Salat a symbol of Islam.

just like the Prophet -peace and blessings be upon him- said:

"Whomsoever believes in Allah and the last day, should say good, or stay quiet"

AsalamuAlaykum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh,

JazakAllah khairun,

It reminds me of the proverb: Those who speak a lot make many mistakes.

May Allah (Subahana Wa Ta'ala) save us from this. Ameen

AsalamuAlaykum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh,

Nawawi says, "This hadith is quite explicit that it is imperative to not talk unless the speech is good, which is that wherein there is some benefit. If a person is in doubt as to whether there will be any benefit, then he should remain silent."
