| :wasalamfull: sister regarding jokes, what is forbidden in Islam is backbiting, mocking/insulting teachings of Islam or people, or lying to make people laugh. This was discussed a while ago here. If you find anything in jokes' section which goes against permissible joking in Islam, then please do report that post and we'll do something about it, insha'Allah.

| After I checked this thread.....I went and searched for this thing as it started worrying me, because if we think about it, some jokes are just imaginable stories which mean things that not really happened but some people wrote them or think about them and spread them among the others to make them laugh. this is worry me, its as if we are telling lies. If something funny really happened then there is no problem of telling it if it will not hurt any one. I found this fatwa by Shiekh Ibn Bazz Quote:
Someone explain the above fatwa please, what is the meaning of that fatwa? can we still consider jokes which are telling stories that not really happened as lies?? jazakum Allah khair | |

| ^ sorry I just read the link that brother Salman posted about the difference between lying and joking. It answered my question above. Telling lies in joking is not permissible |
