| ![]() Dear brothers and sisters, This is just to explain to the necomers to this forum, about the term 'Wahabi'. During the history of this great religion (Islam), there has always been people who try to add and innovate according to their desires, traditions, customs... etc. But luckily Alhamdulillah, Allah SWT has always sent us people who struggled to make sure that we (you and me) get this religion unchanged, in its pure form. One of these people was Sheikh Muhammad ibn ‘Abd al Wahhab (RhA). (نحسبه كذلك ولا نزكي على الله أحدا) Question: Who was this sheikh? Answer: http://said.net/monawein/en/3.htm Question: Why do they hate him so much? Answer: because he exposed the Shirk practices that became so widespread at the time (some of which still exist today). We are very indebted to people like him who endured a great deal of suffering in order to bring us Islam in its pure form. Question: What do his opponents say about him? Answer: Baseless unfounded lies. In fact his life reminds you of what our Prophet SAWS endured; quite a lot of similarities. Question: Did his brother write a book against him? Answer: No. Fabricated by the very people who were 'disturbed' by his objection to their Shirk practices. Question: Did Sheikh Suleiman Ibn Abdil Wahhab (brother of Sheikh Muhammad Ibn Abdil Wahhab) write the book ‘Sawaiq al Ilahiah fir radi alal Wahhabiah’ or any other books to refute his brother? Answer: NO. the enemies of sheikh Muhammad took advantage of a little early difference in opinion between the two brothers to ‘climb on Suleiman’s shoulders’ to get at sheikh Muhammad (RHA) by writing books (of which he is innocent) and attributing them to him. And here is the evidence: 1. I have found 51 letters that Sheikh Muhammad has written in reply to the opponents of his Dawah explaining his position and giving them daleel (proof) from Qur’an and Sunnah, but none of these letters was addressed to his brother or even contained the name of his brother! (isn’t that strange?!!). Simply because his brother was amongst those who realised early the truth of sheikh Muhammad’s reformist movement and joined him in the place called Dari’iah, and because their difference did not touch the essence of Tawheed. 2. All those who genuinely researched sheikh M’s movement say that these books were attributed falsely to turn people away from the TRUTH. 3. Sheikh Muhammad died in 1206 (Hijri calendar) and sheikh Suleiman died in 1208, but the term Wahhabi ( and Wahhabism) was not known or used until the start of the Egypto-Turkish military campaign against Saudi state. A proof to this being that the contemporary European writers who wrote about the sheikh never used the term ‘Wahhabism’ in their writings (instead they called it ‘Muhammadism’). In fact the first time that the term Wahhabism was used was in a book titled ‘New Religion’ written by a European called Harth in 1229 (according to the Egyptian historian Al-Jubruty). 4. The enmies of the sheikh chose to call it Wahhabism because it fitted well with a deviant sect called ‘Wahhabiah Rustumiah’ that existed at the time in North Africa and Andalus. This sect’s beliefs were not in accordance with Ahlus Sunnah Wal Jammah, However Sheikh Muhammad (RhA) was in the centre of Ahlus Sunnah Wal Jammah (He never deviated from it). 5. The term Wahhabiah comes from the name of their father (Abdul Wahhab). How is it thinkable that Sheikh Suleiman (who was a scholar as we all know) would use this term in the title of a book to criticise his brother, when he knows that they both share this name, since AbdulWahhab was their father both?! http://forums.islamicawakening.com/s...ad.php?t=11624 |

| Mashallah ! JazakAllah bro this article! I am glad that now I know why am I often called as Wahabbi by many people around me :D I have a friend who claim to be from the sect of Auwliya Allah and label me as belonging to Wahabi sect and then tells me on the same hand that joining and sect is not in accoradance to Sunnah----Look who's talking ! , The one who herself accepts to be from the sect of Awliya Allah tells me not associate with any sect , strange ! It is important that we circulate this to clarify who was this great man and his mission. Regards
