Default The Muslim Prayer-book by maulana muhammad ali

Hello everyone.

I got this book today, but I read that the author is an apostate (read a comment on amazon.com, and the back mentions some craziness about a new messiah). Is there anything wrong using this book to learn salat?

thanks,
Rick

^hey,

Rick, are you talking about Maulana Muhammad Ali - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia? If so, then yes he is not a Muslim. You cannot call him an apostate because he was never a Muslim to being with. He belongs to a heretical sect, who claimed that their leader, Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, was a Prophet and Messiah. You can read more about them at Qadiyanis and their Beliefs

Yes, we do not advise you to buy books by any person from this group or read them. If you want to get overview of how to pray salah then you may refer to some online lectures and other small articles. If you want to buy a book then I suggest buying the book by Shaykh ibn Bazz or al-Albani or Bakr Abu Zayd.

EDIT

Online pdf version of the book by Shaykh ibn Bazz (may Allah have mercy on him): The Description of the Prophet's Prayer

I personally advise you to read this book

Thank you very much. I did so without knowing.

What should I do with the book now that I have it? I could stash it in a low level of a bookshelf?

I will save this PDF :)

Thank you for all your help. What about In The Footsteps of the Prophet by Tariq Ramadan?

So far, this book is good...

you are welcome. Yeh, many non-Muslims make these sorts of mistakes since they are not aware of whole Islamic world and scholarship. It is important that you learn about Islam from authentic sources.

well, you could return it if that option is still available. otherwise, putting it in a forgotten place is a very good idea.

this is the first time I heard about this book; so, i have no idea about the content. However, knowing the author and his heretical beliefs one cannot be certain about what he presents is actually part of (orthodox) Islam. Tariq Ramadan is a 'Muslim' reformist, who called for reforming Islam to fit in with west: 'No Thanks' to Tariq Ramadan. I don't know what you liked about this book but I can assure you that you can find a similar work by someone who is more knowledgeable and, more importantly, trustworthy. Let us know what the book is all about and what you liked about it and what you are looking for. I am sure we can find similar beneficial work for you, insha'Allah

Honestly, it is obligatory upon every sincere seeker of truth to stay away from these self learned and self proclaimed "scholars" and Muslim "thinkers" because of their defeatist mindset and methodology.
