| ![]() The Qur'an describes what the average human sees of the world/universe around us. So yes, we are aware that the night is really due to a lack of sunlight (many early muslim scientists would even affirm such concepts, knowing well that the Qur'an is not in contradiction), but Allah will still describe it as a covering for us, since that is its role and it actually does look like that for the general masses of people throughout history. This may be done to avoid wasteful dispute throughout history, and instead allow mankind to agree on what is fully apparent, so they should reflect and be grateful for that. Then, scientists can study these phenomenon further to see them from a purely scientific perspective. This is an answer to those who might be in doubt as to how some verses can be interpreted scientifically. So in reality, they don't have to be interpreted in such a manner. I learnt this concept from Nouman Ali Khan's lectures on the tafseer of Qur'an. Allah knows best. |
