they viewed it though pure philosophy. maybe some other time we can highlight these philosophies

As for the purpose of the thread, I think brother Sampharo said it better. Above all, we are not debating here....we just want to reach a better understanding of the proofs we have in our hands from Quran and Sunnah, that's all.

JazakumAllah khair
the views have already been settled on the two I mentioned above. trust me when I say we are not going to uncover something new that has not been uncovered already. it will not strengthen no ones skills

Have you ever heard of cosmological argument to prove existence of God? That argument is the root cause for all of jahmi, mu'tazilah and ash'ari nonsense.

To find a quick short answer to why they deny them please refer to this post. If you understand the philosophical jargon then good otherwise don't worry about it. The asl of jahmis is no different than our age's modernists: our time's modernists deny whatever doesn't work with their intellect and their master, the west; similarly, the heretical modernists of that time, jahmis, denied the Attributes of Allah because it destroyed their argument against atheists and in their heads those Attributes imply tajseem.

As far what they say about the Attributes and Names in the Qur'an, then they accept them if they don't apply tajseem in their heads; however, if they applies tajseem (in their heads) then they make ta'weel or ta'teel of them.

Sister, important thing to note is that that is not the only issue in which they deviated. They are murjis in issue of imaan and qadris in issue of belief in qadr.

and Allah knows best
