We're in need of opinions of Islamic-Life members in regard to the name of the website. Before, I go over bit of history, let's recall the purpose of this website:

Gather all kinds of Islamic material at one place for purpose of da'wah and present Islamic way of life, the correct teachings of Islaam to both Muslims and non-Muslims. We're open to peaceful and well mannered discussions with people of bid'ah and the non-Muslims.

our brothers and sisters from iDawah joined us, few months ago, to complete this project as both of the websites were working on the same project. At that time, we thought it was best to stick to Islamic-Life. However, now some of the staff members think that the name 'iDawah' suits us more.

So, please vote and share your opinions. I'll stay neutral and let both sides from the staff list their pros and cons, insha'Allah.

e.g. Pro iDawah - list your pros for iDawah and cons for Islamic-Life and vice versa.

Ok lets start;


iDawah, the word hit the streets on the dif forums and peoples eyes dilated. we had alot more guests then than we do now. Simply because the name of the site was catchy. Islamic-Life was simply like a site name which helps u in your islamic 'way of life' and not necessarily dawah.

iDawah makes the site known as the 'official' site for dawah on the net. Furthermore it emphasises that if anyone wants to be a da'ee, you should come here for tips and support.


islamic-life, like the other admins have said stated that the site kept shutting down and restarting, maybe if the name was changed - the site would be given a brand new title and restart, so instead of the old site 'islamic-life' which kept shutting down, we have a new site which has the same motive, but a new twist with the name iDawah.

You've seen this idea done with alot of companies who feel that their name isn't recognised, restart the company with a new name because their previous reputation would keep them down.


Next; iDawah sounds kool, its the next new thing. Its showing how dawah is kool, its on the net, so its iDawah, not just dawah. It's something which is going to make a difference to the world insha Allah. It isn't just known as a dawah site, but THE dawah site which everyone wants to visit with all the resources needed.



Anyway, i want to hear the responses and maybe i can carry on insha Allah.

You see Islamic-Life was previously called "islamic-phobia" so Islamic life is the new name change so to speak.

And the reason it shut down, i doubt it was due to the name of the forum.

The main reason why i still believe the forum should remain as "islamic-life" is because what does the word ISLAM mean to everyone?

For me it means it dictates all aspect of my LIFE, i.e. to the way i sleep, the way i dress, the way i eat, what i eat, even the finer details of how to clean ourselves.

Basically every aspect of my life is supposed to be governed by ISLAM, meaning what is in line with islam.

And the name "islamic life" clearly demonstrates that.

I don't think the name is such a big deal, and i wouldnt cringe if the forum was called idawah.

but anyways i will let brother Raied complete my post, im sure he has a lot to say as to why he prefers islamic life.

Ps: brother salman, you are allowed to state your opinion and please do vote, u cannot abstain, so if you believe we should stick with islamic life, please state why, do not remain neutral.

I am with the name iDawah. Some pro and cons are:

Pro:

-Short and catchy name
-contains ,what I call is modernised Arabic ,as in, i---Dawah.
-Our purpose is dawah therefore the name iDawah is more suitable
-iDawah will be more attractive to Muslims as they can RELATIVELY easily count of us and be sure that its not any website like JihadWatch of IslamReview or non-muslim islamic websites etc.


Cons:

- Non-Muslims may not understand the name "iDawah" ( I would be happy to know feedback on this otherwise)

so..Acid is up for iDawah! :)

Just to add a bit that I agree with bro Qatada that the word iDawah looks like revolutionary.. It gives new dimensions to Dawah and kind of give impression of a modern way of Dawah!

Islamic - Life

1.) As bro Acid said (Dawah) is not known to anyone. Meaning that if have it "IDawah" Majority of the users will be muslims, and we will not attract much non-muslims. With Islamic Life we are attracting Muslims and Non-Muslims. Also IDawah revolves around "Dawah", which is not really what i want. I want Islamic-Life to be a final stop to anything Islam, not just "dawah". You know what i am saying.

2.) The Transfer to new domain will take lots of Hard Work, which can only be done by Bro Salman, because none of us really know how to do it. So we have to see how much time he can invest.

3.) Islam is a way of life, and islamic-life really defines that.

4.) Bro Salman just renewed the domain name 1 week ago. It will be waste of money if we are to change now.


Now with this said, i really love the name IDawah. It is truly a unique and different name. Why cant we use IDawah for another purpose? Like a site, not a forum but just a portal for specific Dawah material for daa'es?. Like Khutbah.com. This site focuses on bringing just good Khutbah's. You know what i mean? Not everyone likes going to forums.

Note: iDawah domain expires in about one and a half weeks, it'l be free for me to re-new as we got a 2 yr contact with the domain, but it'l be free to change the name also to another url, Allaahu A'lam, but this decision should be made quick.
