this thread is dedicated to Islamic-Life home page's new article updates, new features etc.

Update; March 08, 2009

1 - A new theme/skin has been uploaded; so, now just like forum, the users can choose the skin/theme they like. We currently have only two but more will be coming soon, insha'Allah. Tons of Jazak Allah khayr goes to brother Raied for an awesome logo header image for new skin.

2 - Unlike before, the articles will be displayed on the same page as the other category pages.

What is so special about Islamic-Life home page?

1 - I can proudly announce that most of the home pages load faster than Google. They take approximately 1 second to load if you've internet connection speed of 128K and half a second if you've IT LAN. If you've dial up connection then it is guaranteed that the pages will load less than 10 seconds.

2 - Unlike other Islamic websites, our focus is on all the areas: a) look b) quality c) quantity d) user friendly e) features f) page load up speed g) search engine optimization

3 - We're aiming to gather all kinds of Islamic material for the purpose of da'wah at one place. Hence, you won't have to bookmark so many websites or keep track of their updates. insha'Allah, we'll be doing all that work for you, all you got to do is bookmark Islamic-Life home page and spread it around. If you've personal blog or you know a friend who has one, then please add a link to our website.

What is to look for within next few weeks?

1 - iDawah - yes, iDawah will be back soon, insha'Allah, with something more unique, something which you've never seen before.

2 - Email articles to anyone

3 - Save article as a Microsoft word file

4 - Islamic-Life toolbar for your browser - maybe, I'm not sure yet

5 - Progress on hadith explorer project

6 - tons of articles

its really good news that idawah will be back again I am really happy to hear such thing, and about the other next coming features......I was needing for many of them to be available, especially the tool bar. Its gonna be amazing if it will be really there

Update; April 30, 2009; Script version 1.4

Front-end

1 - New professional looking skin/theme
2 - Email a link of an article or whole article to a friend
3 - Printable version of an article
4 - Latest forum discussions are displayed
5 - Minor changes includes fixing bugs, changes in font styles and such

Back-end

1 - HTML templates are not cached now
2 - When adding an article: keywords, and url are generated right away and description is optional now. The description is generated on fly based on article text (first 200 characters). However, it is highly recommended that you make relevant changes to keywords and add relevant description manually. This new feature is available to make things easier for you.
3 - Now an article can appear under multiple categories: this option is available when adding or editing an article
4 - When a new article is added, a new thread on fourm is automatically created under the name of user, who added new article. Thread is created in "Comment on Articles" section.
5 - New options for enabling/disabling of displaying latest forum discussions
6 - Minor changes includes bug fixes

What about iDawah?

iDawah development will continue once I hear from rest of the staff and we've formed proper team for project.

New Features Requests

The home page script is developed by us; so it is not a 3rd party script for which it would be hard to incorporate or add new features. If you would like new features, which you might have seen on other websites, please post it here and I'll look into it, insha'Allah.

I was thinking that maybe we should add the comment feature for home page article without people having to register at forum. Like how it is in blogs and off course we'll the option of moderating and disabling/enabling this feature. What do you guys think?

Update; August 18, 2009; Script version 1.6

The new update was heavily focused on some major changes at backend and the front-end changes for iDawah

Front-end

1 - A simple default theme for users who have slow internet connection
2 - Changes in url structure - no more trailing slash
3 - RSS feed, subscribe to feed to keep yourself updated with latest articles
4 - Tree and glossary styles dawah addition (for iDawah)
5 - Better display of Islamic links which will also serve as an advertising directory
6 - Search page is improved even further: now you can choose which search engine to use (Google or our built in). If you choose google, then it will also search forums' topics for you.
7 - Some bugs fixes

Back-end

Lots of changes and I will go over them for staff in a tutorial video, insha'Allah
