Muslim idol worshipping out of curosity

One of my friend who went to China to study in an medical university unfortunately and typically got involved in much unislamic stuff. Few weeks back he told me that he have an indian hindu friend who while praing in front of the idol asked my friend to come and stand in front of the idol and pray to Allah i.e. His Own God and not the hindu God.

So he went and prayed to Allah while standing infront of the idol.

What can we say to such a person? I understand that its completey shirk but how can we substantiate our self ?
